Carl Treleaven is CEO of Westlake Ventures, a company with investments principally in
specialty printing and software. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Etiquetas
Modernas, a specialty label printing company based in Mexico City as well as Chairman
of the Board of Asparity Decision Solutions, a company offering specialized software to
large employers with multiple health care plans, based in Durham, NC.
Previously, Carl served as CEO and owner of Pharmagraphics, a company which
specialized in package printing for pharmaceutical companies, based in Greensboro, NC.
He sold the company in 2006 to the Clondalkin Group, a European packaging company.
At the time of the sale, the company had seven manufacturing sites located in the USA,
Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Poland.
Carl also serves as the chairman of the Tampa Bay chapter of New World Angels, an
angel investment group based in Boca Raton, Florida. He was one of the co-founders of
the Tampa group. He is also a member of Piedmont Angel Network, an angel investment
group based in Greensboro, NC. He devotes considerable time to evaluating startup and
development stage companies.
Carl serves on the Board of Directors of Operation Smile, an international charity which
provides plastic reconstructive surgery for children and adults in over 25 countries in the
Third World. He also is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Presbyterian
Homes, a group of continuing care retirement communities in North Carolina.
Carl holds a BA in Economics from Rice University and an MBA from Dartmouth
College. He is also licensed as a CPA in North Carolina. He is also a Distinguished
Toastmaster.
He lives in Madeira Beach, Florida with his wife, Lina.
